Tidbits: Highest point in Pennsylvania
Summitted, December 2, 2004
Time Zone: GMT -5 hours
When to go:
Anytime, although the forest roads may not be passable in the winter.
This is a "drive up" to the summit.
Hotel and Climb Reservation:
The summit is located within Forbes State Forest. From US Highway #219 in Meyersdale, go west on State Secondary Route 2004 for just under 10 miles. Make a left onto South Wolf Road and continue to the Mount David Parking Area. There is an observation/lookout tower at the summit (which you can climb), along with a small interpretive exhibit. There are sweeping views in every direction from the top of the tower..
Drive to summit, climb up tower, drive down from summit. Yawn.
